Starts at 5:45 PM - On Cemetery Rd, about 100 yards south of Route 13.

 

This is a loop course beginning and finishing in a small country village. It is a scenic run, taking in rural sights and smells. The course is undulating with the elevation at the dam the same as at the village four corners and the fairground: about 1280 feet. The course starts near the cemetery, about 1/4 mile south of the DeRuyter School. Runners head north, then turn right onto Mechanic St., passing by the fairgrounds and getting a look at the Finish line. Then turn left onto Utica Street (Rte 13) and angle left onto Middle Lake Rd. After the 5K mark you will turn right onto South Lake Rd, and then head north on East Lake Road for almost two miles. The reservoir will be on your left. You cross the dam at the north end of the lake at about 6 miles and start your journey back towards the village along West Lake Road. You will be in the shelter of the hills of Highland Forest for the next 4 miles. This will be a welcome relief if it is a warm and humid evening. You will exit W. Lake Rd. at about the 11-mile mark and return to the village via Oil Mill Rd, Cortland St., and the village "four corners." The finish, friends, and family await you at the Firemen's Fair.
